New guidelines in Administrative order by Georgia Public Health on April 4, 2021 help reopen more long-term care communities and agencies by easing restrictions especially as it relates to quarantine practices on admission.

Before the April 7, 2021 order, new admissions would have to quarantine unless they
1. Fully recovered from COVID-19 and completed transmission-based precautions.
AND
2. Are within 3 months of COVID-19 onset (either first positive test or symptom onset, whichever occurred first)
AND
3. Are asymptomatic.
OR
4. Are fully vaccinated (i.e., ≥ 2 weeks following receipt of second dose in 2-dose series or ≥ 2 weeks following receipt of one dose of a single-dose vaccine)
AND
- a. Has not had prolonged close contact (within 6 feet for a cumulative total of ≥ 15 minutes over a 24-hour period) with someone with SARS- CoV-2 infection in the past 14 days.
Effective April 7, 2021 the number 5 was added.
5. Now if the community transmission level is below 5% and the person being admitted to the long-term care community has a risk assessment which determines whether the admitting resident had close contact with someone with SARs-COV-2 infection while outside the community and if there was consistent adherence to Infection control practices/precautions in health care settings, during transportation, or in the community prior to admission, they do not have to quarantine.
