Jennifer Pierce Washington
Caregiver of the Year, December Caregiver of Month
Born in New Orleans, LA, Washington was a Medical Assistant at age 20 and has been a caregiver for the past 7 years. She comes from a family of nurses (both her mom and grandmother).
She says, “I was at the hospital a lot as a child as my mother was a nurse and surgical tech. It was from my experiences at the hospital growing up that I developed an interest and passion for caregiving. I developed a love and respect for geriatric patients as they had the greatest need for care and were often given the least. I also developed this passion after caring for my aunt following a severe stroke. My mother and I cared for her so she could remain in her own home versus being placed in a care facility. She lived at home for 2 years until she passed away.”
Washington has been CaraVita’s “Go-to Girl” since she was hired, and we are proud to honor her as our Caregiver of the Year for 2015. We have placed her in a variety of settings, and she has always provided excellent care and been given wonderful feedback by our clients. We can always rely on her being determined to a good job with passion for her role. She provides hourly care and was selected as a care provider for our Shared Services Program at Atria North Point. Washington demonstrates the compassion and dedication to excellence that CaraVita was founded upon. Even in her free time, she gives of herself. Her favorite hobby is spending time with her family, including her 2 boys and 2 girls.
